I consider myself a pretty low-maintenance person when it comes to beauty routines and self-care, however, that’s not the case when it comes to my smile. I’ve made teeth whitening a high priority for many years now; it has such a positive impact on confidence, first impressions, and overall look. My usual recommendation and go-to product has always been whitening strips, but I know many struggle with slipping and tooth sensitivity. So, I decided to ditch the strips and make the switch to trays in order to provide a better option. First, Impressions
I began by answering a few dental history questions, after which Smile Brilliant sent me a product kit to create my own personal teeth molds. To be honest, I was nervous about this step because I failed several times when creating molds for invisible braces. However, I followed the directions closely and managed to create them without a hitch, well… on the second try that is (lol). I was definitely grateful extra clay is included for potential mess ups. After I shipped my impressions back, Smile Brilliant designed a set of custom-fitted teeth whitening trays.
Strips vs. Trays
Receiving my personalized trays turned out to be pretty cool since I’ve only been accustomed to generic strips. It’s interesting to see the shape of your teeth in solid form and they fit perfectly. I was also happy to see that the trays reach more of your inner molars, so overall you’re getting a deeper whitening experience versus the limited coverage of strips.
Whitening
My kit included four syringes of whitening gel equaling to about four applications per syringe. As I began treatment, the first step was to decide how long to whiten per session. They recommend 45 minutes to 3 hours, so I chose one hour per day over two weeks. As mentioned earlier, I know many shy away from whitening due to tooth sensitivity, however, Smile Brilliant offers a desensitizing gel which comes to the rescue as your teeth adjust.
Results
The reason I prefer at-home teeth whitening treatments is because you can go about your daily life as you whiten. I chose to do my sessions as I worked from home or got ready for bed, either way it was easily fit into my schedule and I saw great results after just a few treatments.
Final Thoughts
From beginning to end, Smile Brilliant’s upbeat and knowledgeable staff have made this new teeth whitening experience such a breeze. Although I found the use of trays to require more time and effort, I believe it’s worth it due to the personalized fit, helpful products such as the desensitizing gel, and most importantly the quality whiten for a brighter smile.
