How To Create Fire Content At Home

As a travel blogger, the #StayHome order put a quick halt to the type of content that excites me most. It took two weeks of feeling uninspired to realize the quarantine presented a new opportunity to explore other niches. Relating most to Lifestyle, I decided to film a home tour for YouTube, post my recipes on Tik Tok, and challenge myself to create quality content at home.

So if you are done with posting throwbacks and want to stand out from the rest, here’s how to create fire content for Instagram, Tik Tok, and YouTube.

Photo Inspo

Aesthetic Rooms

Designing a beautifully aesthetic home sets the foundation to create quality content without even having to leave the house. Simple accents and decor such as wall art, plants, blankets, etc. make for excellent photo props and backdrops.

Tub/Shower

If you have a white or neutral based Instagram feed, bubble baths and rain showers are great locations for crisp, clean photos. What I like most about shower shots is how the water adds movement to a photo, while fun and flirty bubble baths make prime “Self-care Sunday” posts.

Balcony/Patio

We all know golden hour produces undeniable gems (“and if you don’t know now you know…”). It’s a special time of day where you can soak up the glow and play around with lighting. Shadows add such an artistic touch without any special editing, so next time the sun dips low step out and capture something beautiful.

Garage/Car

I’m a big fan of parking garages because they have that cool grunge look that goes great with street style, not to mention the wide selection of car props. You can also use your own car as a shoot location by capturing your reflection in the mirrors and playing around with seating.

Tik Tok

Tik Tok is such a fun and addicting hub for all interests and the perfect place to create content in a quick, consumable way. When it comes to the ‘gram, I’m more strict in sticking to my niche since I branded myself as a travel/style blogger. So for me, Tik Tok is like a side hub to share my other hobbies like cooking, dancing, and comedy. Click here to follow me!

Below are a few examples of good topics to try.

At-Home Exercises

Home workouts are HOT right now as many of us are struggling to avoid the infamous “quarantine fifteen” weight gain. So now is a perfect opportunity share your best workout exercises with a fresh audience.

Dance Trends

Dance is my first love but I only ever expressed it behind the closed doors of my bedroom. So when I saw that dance was huge on Tik Tok, I jumped on the opportunity to learn. If dance isn’t your strength, no worries because the moves are super easy (and pretty corny lol). Plus the vibe of Tik Tok is so light and fun, it doesn’t matter if you’re young, old, terrible or talented.

How-To Videos

Those aiming to stay productive are soaking up How-To videos learning every new skill under the sun. So whatever you specialize in, take this opportunity to prove you’re the expert by teaching.

YouTube

YouTube is a great platform to show more of your “live” personality since Instagram tends to only show an edited snippet of your life. It can also be a great extension of your travels, fashion, business, or anything else under the sun you want to share in a more in depth manner.

Home Tour

While shopping for my new apartment, interior design took over my world. Nothing new, since I was raised by a mom that has unconditional love for all things home and art. When I came to a point of happiness with my place, I decided to film a tour and surprisingly it became my best performing video.

Q&A

A great way to connect with your audience is to share more about your personal life and background. So go ahead and utilize the Q&A feature on Instagram, and ask your followers what they want to learn about you.

Travel Vlog

I’m definitely a hoarder of travel video footage, because it can be a process to put together a vlog for YouTube. However, while we have the most time why not put it to good use and share your round-the-world adventures and best travel tips.

IGTV

Instagram loves when you utilize all their app features, the more you do the more they’ll prioritize your content. IGTV is also a great starting place if you have yet to launch a YouTube channel, or if you have, use it as a teaser platform to promote your full YouTube videos.
