7 Simple Props For Next Level Instagram Photos

Props are crucial in creating unique photos and can help you shine above the rest. To be real, it’s definitely easier to stand in front of a lens and snap a few pics of your #OOTD, however, they won’t have that desired WOW factor. I’m a huge fan of props because they easily enhance photos, add to the story, and relieve you from posing pressures. Not to mention the infamous question of what to do with your hands. So, if you’re aiming to amp up your creativity level, take a look at these seven simple props for next level Instagram photos!

Mirror

Soaring in popularity with content creators, mirrors have to be one of the top props used in Instagram photos, and for good reason. They come in all different shapes, sizes, designs, colors, and create such artistic photos. I suggest playing around with reflections both in and outdoors to explore a variety of backgrounds. Trust when I say they’ll be some of your coolest photos yet.

Bubbles

If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd, I highly recommend bubbles! It’s an inexpensive choice that turns out fun and colorful captures. Repetition is a virtue with this shot because it’s all about timing and a bit of luck. I suggest setting your camera to mid or high continuous shoot mode as it will increase your chances of getting the bubble perfectly placed.

Books/Newspaper

Books, magazines, and newspapers all add an editorial feel to your photos and can be a communication starter with your followers. When captioning your photo, consider an engagement grabber question like “what books do you recommend,” or share some you’re currently reading to provide value. As for newspapers, the typical (yet cute) picture is usually styled with a robe, towel, and cup of coffee. To switch it up, spread and tape newspaper to a wall and use it as background for your next photo shoot.

Food

Food in your home has to be one of the most convenient props to use for photos, especially in these quarantine times. I do recommend adding in some movement or a cool edit as plainly posing with food can turn out a bit stale (pun shamelessly intended). Try tossing your snack up in the air or using the app Afterlight for some dope effects.

Plants/Flowers

Ahhh nature. Some of my most popular Instagram photos are with flowers and plants. Fresh blooms add life and natural beauty to a shot, making them a simple prop for next level Instagram photos. So find a house plant, palm tree, flower, bush, whatever, and just have fun with it!

Balloons

The most overdone photo when it comes to balloons are birthday numbers (yes I’m guilty of it too). Instead, here are a couple ideas to get your creative juices flowing. 1. Fill up your tub with balloons, snuggle in, and capture the joy. 2. Use my photo as inspo and buy a balloon bouquet. Heads up though, you may feel a bit crazy jumping in front of a camera, but trust the end result will be worth it.
