This hotel is an art lover’s dream. The design is exquisite, the details are divine and the contemporary art is endless. The collection has a mix of photography, sculpture, and eclectic objects curated by local artists. The inspiration behind each piece is drawn from New York City and the Netherlands, where CitizenM was born. Now the list of art doesn’t doesn’t stop there. If you venture into the stairwell you’ll discover the Museum of Street Art (MoSA). The museum consists of 20 floors of insane graffiti, and according to the painted walls it took 420 hours, 520 cans of paint, and 2 1/2 years of planning.

TECH-SAVVY SAFETY

The future is contactless and citizenM’s award-winning app has you covered. You can manage your booking, check-in/out, unlock your room, and so much more. If you prefer human connection, the staff is more than happy to help you 24/7 and will even provide a few good laughs. Shout out to Trevor who went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. The hotel’s tech-savvy ways also include a MoodPad (tablet) in every room. For additional peace of mind they say, “Pick me up, I’ve been cleaned.” Like the app, the MoodPad enables you to do some pretty cool things. You can control the blinds, temp, TV, and even the light color. Touch a wall switch? That’s a thing of the past. Face masks are also required in all public spaces to protect guests.

LUXURIES

Do cookies count as luxuries? If so, I was greeted by two and a hand drawn card that said “Welcome to citizenM Bowery.” In addition to sweet treats, you’ll be welcomed by an amazing view of Manhattan from your window. Waking up to such scenery is one of the best perks of this hotel.

Hands down citizenM New York Bowery has the best designer Living Room I’ve ever seen. The space is massive and you can work, relax and admire art from every angle. When you’re in the mood for a bite or craft cocktail you can head over to the bar to order. If you prefer to eat and drink amongst the clouds I recommend visiting their rooftop bar, CloudM. The design and details are just as amazing, and there’s an outside patio with beautiful panoramic views of Lower Manhattan.

NEIGHBORHOOD

If you’re over the Times Square tourist traps and chain restaurants, then this Lower East Side location is the place to be. The hotel is located on one of the oldest streets in New York City. It has some amazing dining options nearby in Little Italy and Chinatown. If you’re craving some shopping and more art, the Nolita Shops and New Museum are minutes away. Once you’re ready to explore, SoHo and Greenwich Village also neighbor the area.

FINALE

I genuinely had an amazing time capturing the beauty of this unique hotel. I cannot wait to explore more citizenM properties worldwide, especially the one coming to Miami, FL. The only thing that stood out more than the art was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay in NYC and I 100% suggest staying at citizenM New York Bowery.
